He studied for a year at the Hein Academy in 2014. He paints gallery and commission work in his studio located near his home in East Millcreek Utah. Rob is known for his daytime and nighttime city scenes of Salt Lake City and New York City. He also paints commissioned portraits. Rob is a Professor at the Salt Lake Community College in the Visual Art and Design Department. He teaches classes in drawing, painting, life drawing and design. Rob is a member of the Plein-air Painters of Utah, signature member of Oil Painters of American and signature member of American Impressionists Society. His work has been displayed in many shows throughout the United States. Rob describes his painting process: "I love the process of making marks with oil paint. There is a relationship of paint marks to the imagery. To have both working simultaneously expands the language of painting. A two-foldness occurs between the marks of paint and the image. My paintings change from abstraction to realism depending on the distance that they are viewed." I enjoy the actual process of painting as much if not more than finishing a paintiing.
