Steve began painting at age ten with his grandfather.  His education consists of studying at University of Utah to travels to Russia, Paris and England.

Steve admires the spontaneity and light of the Impressionists and the rich values of the Old Masters.  Using an extremely limited palette and combining strengths from the previously mentioned schools he has developed a unique and recognizable style.

Steve's passion is Plein Air Painting.  The sounds, smells and atmosphere are a major part in the feeling and emotion of each painting.

"My intention is not to copy nature, but to capture a peaceful moment with feeling, mood, and simplicity. Thus allowing the viewer to participate more in their own interpretation of the scene. If I give them all the information in the immense detail of a painting, I have robbed the viewer of their integral part of involvement in my work."
